Dog Figurines: The next Best Thing

Pets are good to have around. Cute pets such as Bulldog's and Mastiff's transform any dull home into a lively one, and they make good company. But some of us can't live around them—for example, those who are allergic to fur or have asthma. Good thing there are dog figurines to help relieve the intense longing for a live pet. They make great decorations, too. So with these figurines you'd find your home just as lively as if you had a real pet around.

Top 10 Ways Dogs Are Better Than Cats:

10. Dogs are bigger (well... Some dogs are).
9. Dogs don't need a litter box, as long as your neighbor has a yard.
8. Dogs don't have kittens in your closet on your new shoes.
7. Cats can't wag their tails. (And won't even try...)
6. Dogs respond when you call them by name. (Almost any name)
5. Dogs are too stupid to hide when they make a mess.
4. Dogs have cooler home pages on the Internet.
3. Dogs will stay up and watch Letterman with you, even if there are no stupid pet tricks.
2. Dogs are easy to buy Christmas presents for, get them anything that smells...
1. Cats have an attitude, dogs just have that "Where's dinner?" look.

A Walk Down Dog Memory Lane

 Beverly Hillbillies Duke

              "Listen Now"

Wrinkly bloodhound dog (played by Stretch) featured on the sitcom THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES/CBS/1962-71. Duke belonged to Jed Clampett (Buddy Ebsen), an Ozark hillbilly who discovered oil on his property when he was “shooting at some food.” After the Clampetts moved to Beverly Hills, Duke the family hunting dog did nothing but sit around their mansion and sleep all day. Lamenting Jed said “There’s a dog who could trail a butterfly through a rain storm. Now he couldn’t smell cabbage cooking.”

Duke - The Clampetts’ family dog. He’s an old bloodhound that Jed had bought for four bits (50 cents) when he was a puppy. In early episodes, Jethro tried to teach Duke to fetch sticks, though to Jed, it looked as if Duke taught Jethro how to do that trick. In a couple of episodes, Duke got involved with a French poodle that was brought in to mate with Mrs. Drysdale’s pampered pooch Claude. Apparently, the poodle had better taste and had Duke’s puppies instead. When Mrs. Drysdale wanted Claude to get revenge against Duke, Jed warned her that he’d seen that old hound dog hold his own against a bobcat.

Duke does not get enough credit. Did it never occur to anyone that Duke was the one that sniffed out that Texas Tea and made ol’ Jed (Buddy Ebsen) a millionaire and that maybe it wasn’t just a happy coincidence that happened while Jed was shooting at some food?
